Jiyugaoka

Jiyugaoka Station is located in the Jiyugaoka neighborhood of Meguro Ward of Tokyo and is served by Toyoko and Oimachi Lines of Tokyu Corporation. The station lies midway between Tokyo Station and Yokohama Station.

Jiyugaoka is a residential and commercial district of Meguro. It is a well-known upper class neighborhood as many famous people live here. It is also popular as a commercial district with many fashionable stores located here. In fact, Jiyugaoka is such a favorite among Tokoyites that it was voted the second most favorable place to live in.

Jiyugaoka Station is situated in the middle of the commercial district of Jiyugaoka. If you come out of the main exit of the station, the first thing you come across is Hachi-no-ya, a Japanese sweet shop. Opposite it is Jiyugaoka Department Store and next to it is Mont Blanc, a famous cake shop opened in 1933. A few other sweet shops are also in the vicinity. If you come out from the south exit, the street you come to is the well known Marie Claire Street. Parallel to it is the other famous street of Jiyugaoka, Green Street. Both these streets are lined with trees and have benches for people to sit and relax on. On both sides of the streets are trendy and fashionable shops, restaurants and cafes. Every weekend the streets are crowded with people who come here from all over to shop and dine in luxury.
